About Provenance

Provenance is the new food label.

The label on your food tells you what the law requires. The country it came from. The weight. The ingredients in descending order.

It cannot tell you anything specific about the farm, the animal, the field or the person who grew it. Whether any of what it claims is actually true.

Provenance fixes that.

What We Are

Provenance is a verified map of real Irish food producers. Farmers, butchers, growers, beekeepers, and food craftspeople who can prove exactly what they make. Every producer on the map has been personally found and assessed against one standard. Named source. Real practices. Nothing hidden.

When you tap a pin on the Provenance Map you do not see a marketing page. You see the farm. You see the land. You see the process. You see the person who made the food you are about to buy.

The map is free to explore. It will always be.

Why We Exist

Irish farms have fed this land for generations. The connection between those farms and the people who eat their food has been systematically removed by a distribution system that made country of origin the only provenance information a consumer could rely on.

Between now and 2030 the policy environment, the payment structures and the market conditions that kept small Irish farms viable are all changing simultaneously. The producers who survive will be the ones who built a direct relationship with the people eating their food before those changes made it too late.

Provenance is the infrastructure that makes that relationship possible. We find the producers. We document what they do. We put a scannable verified proof on their product. We connect them directly to the consumers who are already looking for them.

This is not a directory. It is not a certification scheme. It is not a food delivery service. It is infrastructure. The same way the tractor changed farming permanently. Not by being a better tool but by making the alternative unthinkable. Provenance is being built to make the anonymous food label unacceptable.

Where We Are Building

Wexford is where Provenance begins. Every county follows. The goal is every real food producer in Ireland who is doing things properly findable on the map. Every product that meets the standard carrying the Seal. Every consumer who cares about what they eat opening Provenance before they open a supermarket door.

We are building it one producer at a time, one visit at a time, one scan at a time.

The Standard

Every producer on the Provenance Map has been personally found and assessed. Producers who have received a Provenance founding visit have their farm documented on film embedded directly on their map profile.

We do not accept self-reported information as the basis for a Seal. We visit. We film. We test. We publish everything.

That standard is non-negotiable because the mark is only worth anything if what it represents is true.
